The Winslow Tigers believe that academic excellence is a priority that must be held with high regard in order to aid with realizing successes in all aspects of human living. Each of the players on the Winslow Tigers are high honor roll and honor roll student athletes. Specifics regarding each player's academic performance and teacher comments are presented below.

Tziarra #1 (Miss Dependable): This student athlete completed the entire 2009-2010 school year with all A's. As a result, she was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. Each of her teachers have documented that she is performing in an exemplary manner. In addition, one teacher has documented that she has a positive attitude toward learning and school work. Moreover, her Gifted & Talented instructor has documented that she exhibits courtesy and respect for teachers and peers.
Lisette #2 (Miss Love To Play): Lisette, as a fifth grader, has earned Silver Honor Roll by earning all A's, and two B's in her primary curriculum courses as well as Outstanding Achievement ratings in music and art. Lisette is also a member of the Band at her school and her preferred choice of instrument is the flute. She has received acclamations from all of her instructors for her creative writing as well as for her behavior, mannerisms, and empathy. Lisette has earned the Presidential Athletics Award for the second straight year. She is a member of the schoolʼs safety patrol and has received praise from her bus driver for controlling the behavior of her fellow students.

Elysa #5 (Miss Do It All): Elysa, as a sixth grader and the oldest player on the team, has earned A's, B's, and Cʼs in her primary curriculum courses along with two Outstanding Achievement ratings in music and art during the first marking period (ʽ08-ʼ09). Elysa is also a member of the Band at her middle school. Elysa currently plays the flute and has played the violin in her previous school band. She has received acclamations from all of her instructors for her academics as well as for her behavior, mannerisms, and compassion toward others. Elysa also played soccer for her school and was named MVP (Most Valuable Player) during the Fall 2008 season. She was also named an All Star during the Futsal Regional Tournament in Boston, Mass., in early Spring 2008. Elysa was formerly an All Star Cheerleader in Southern New Jersey. Elysa hopes to venture with the sport of track & field for the purpose of enhancing her terrific speed to aid with her development in the game of soccer.
Amirah #7 (The TRUTH): In the second marking period of her fourth grade year, Amirah has earned a Silver Honor Roll Award as a result of receiving all A‘s and B‘s in her core curriculum courses. Amirah's Teachers, Ms. Garr and Ms. Flick, state that, "Amirah has a beautiful mind. She is a hard working student who is eager to learn". Amirah was named Student of the Month for February 2009 for exceptional problem solving and excellence in mathematics. Amirah plays the violin in her school orchestra, she is a member of her school chorus and she has attained outstanding evaluations and achievements in her music classes. Amirah is also a member of the Winslow 5th and 6th grade travel basketball team which just finished their season undefeated to capture the ICBL Basketball Championship.
Jordan #9 (Miss Skills Of Magic): Fourth grade is a challenging year; however, Jordan has kept up with her grades this marking period. Math and Reading: A, Communication: B+, and Science and Social Studies: A-. She has also maintained Outstanding and Satisfactory markers for Talented and Gifted, Physical Education, Art, Music, and Spanish. Her teacher has noted that Jordan's areas of strength are respecting others, working independently and cooperatively, and putting forth strong efforts to achieve high quality work. In addition to her academic strengths, Jordan continues to have a passion for the Arts by dancing, singing and drawing. Way to go, Jordan!!
Lacey #14 (Miss Tough As Nails): In the first half of her third grade year, Lacey achieved the top honor of Principal’s Honor Roll by earning Straight A+ ‘s in all 10 subjects of study. With a top score in mathematics of 100% for the second marking period, and all other subject grades ranging from 95 to 99, she has proven to herself at a young age that hard work and consistent effort equals outstanding results. She also earned a position to represent her school as a finalist in the NJ State Spelling Bee. Lacey has been described as a hard worker and diligent learner, while also displaying a cheerful spirit and a loving heart. She is a member of the school choir and received great reviews for her role in the Winter drama program. Lacey is also actively involved with her church and the community. She is a member of the VBC Kids Choir, Kids for Christ, and Awana Truth & Training Clubs. She has participated in numerous community outreach events which included making and distributing cards for the elderly who are confined to nursing homes. She has also performed with the Children’s Choir for Veteran’s Day, Christmas, and other special events, including a stage production for the Easter season. Lacey enjoys singing, arts & crafts, helping others in need, and of course SOCCER!
Vashti #19 (Miss Ball Of Fire): This student athlete completed the 2009-2010 by receiving the highest academic grades through her demonstration of outstanding academic performance, conduct and attendance. As a result, she was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society. Her two primary Teachers, Mrs. Garr and Mrs. Flick, recorded the following comments: "Vashti is a very bright student. She is always willing to accept a challenge. She is enthusiastic about learning and is always willing to try something new! She was a pleasure to work with this year". Vashti's music Teachers, Ms. Jan and Mr. Garton, recognized and graded her flute playing ability in the school band as outstanding for the entire school year. These music Teachers acknowledged that Vashti has successfully developed intellectual and technical skills to match her eye, mind and muscle coordination. In addition, they have identified that Vashti has developed excellent in school and at home practice habits. Consequently, her efforts to improve have been rated as outstanding. Vashti maintained these high self achievement standards while being a member of the school's Gifted & Talented Academic Program (QUEST) and a member of the Chorus. Her Gifted & Talented Teacher, Ms. Maisch, documented that Vashti is inventive, productive and quick to devise and use new ideas.
Kylie #22 (Miss Determined To Succeed): This student athlete completed the 2009-2010 school year in excellent academic standing.
Jaylyn #33 (Miss Reliable): Jaylyn, the scholar athlete, completed the 4th grade maintaining an “A” average in all subject areas. Jaylyn received comments of “outstanding effort” by her primary teacher in language, spelling, science and social studies. She was known as an enthusiastic learner with a very positive attitude. Throughout the year her music teacher commented that she showed “outstanding effort” and had a “high aptitude for music”. During the 07/08 school year Jaylyn participated in Band (playing the clarinet), was selected for a lead roll in a school play, served as a Safety, was a finalist in the 4th grade district wide Spelling Bee, (obtaining recognition in the local newspaper), and was a member of a local Girl Scout Troop and is a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and she loves the Lord. Jaylyn enjoys writing, playing her clarinet and lifting the spirits of others. She thrives when challenged and has a very competitive nature. Jaylyn is often referred to as thoughtful, conscientious, courteous and cooperative. She is affectionately known as “Sunshine” by family and friends as you will rarely find her without a smile on her face.
